digital learning toolkit
In any global classroom, keeping up with current technology and online tools is essential to bringing an authentic international perspective to your curriculum. According to Edutopia, successful technology integration generally involves three key principles:
- Students playing an active role in their learning and receiving frequent, personalized feedback
- Students critically analyzing and actively creating media messages
- Teachers connecting classroom activities to the world outside the classroom

Lastly, here is a list of resources that I and other Teachers for Global Classrooms are currently using. Please feel free to contact me with more technology resources, ideas, or comments about how you use the tools listed below.
Weebly - I've created this entire Global Education Resource Guide website using Weebly, and it's been one of the most user-friendly tech experiences I've ever had
Blackboard - online platform for blended learning and creating a "flipped" classroom. We used this platform for our TGC course and I am beginning to use it in my own Spanish I classroom this year. MNPS has purchased a contract with Blackboard, so it is available for all our teachers to use.
Remind - Remind is a one-way messaging system that I'm now using to text students to remind them about assignment due dates and upcoming tests; it's free, easy to use, and keeps both your students and your phone number private. My students (and their parents) love it!
Google Docs/Drive - useful for creating and sharing documents such as spreadsheets, Power Points, Word docs, and even shopping lists with other people
Dropbox - file sharing website that is really useful for collaboration between teachers and accessing documents from any computer
Pinterest - I've created boards for my Spanish classroom and general teaching ideas, along with other fun non-educational boards
Voki - Voki is a FREE service that lets you create customized speaking characters and oral presentations, which promotes better interactive speaking skills
Quizlet - a great site for creating sets of online flashcards and finding sets that other users have created
